We teach minds to think, hands to do and hearts to love.
Welcome to Year 2
HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2018 is now here and we are ready for a very busy Spring term in Year 2!
Important information CHANGES TO READING BOOKS IN YEAR 2
In Year 2 we are trialing a new way of working. Instead of changing books once a week, you can have your books changed on any day of the week as long as you have read to an adult at home and they have signed your Reading Together book. Bring your reading book back with your Reading Together book signed and an adult in school will give you a new reading book to read. This means you can have a new book every day if you read regularly! Mrs Banks will be looking to give out prizes for those who are reading lots at home. Please bring your reading bag and your Reading Together into school everyday so that when you read with an adult in school, we can write a note to tell your parents how well you are getting on.
Homework
Remember homework will be sent home on a Friday afternoon and should be returned to school on a Wednesday. Please make sure that you bring your homework in on time so that it can be marked and new homework stuck in ready. Thank you
PE
PE- Our day for PE is on a Friday. Mrs Ryder will be teaching us PE. Please make sure that you have your PE kit (red T-shirt, blue/black shorts and plimsolls) in school every day.
This term, our topic is called 'Wish you were Here' and we are learning all about different continents and oceans in our world. We will study different countries in those continents, finding out about their weather, geographical features and culture. In addition, we we will look in detail at the capital cities of the countries in the United Kingdom and our city of Durham. As part of our topic, we will visit the magnificent Durham Cathedral and carry out some workshops there.
