Welcome to Year 2 Spring Term 2019

After a very successful first term in Year 2, we are keen to get started and have lots of exciting activities planned this term.

The Great Fire of London Topic

This term our topic is all about the Great Fire of London. We will learn what life was like in the 17th Century, how the fire started and what happened. In doing so, we will look at historical sources from the time, including Samuel Pepys' diary. We will compare aspects of life today with that of the 17th century, for example firefighters today and in the past. As part of our Geography work, we will focus on London and find out what it is like today and how different it was in the 17th Century.

 

Reading in Year 2

It is very important that you practise your reading as much as possible at home. Try to read for 10 minutes every night. When you have read your reading book, ask your parents to sign it and bring it back to school where you will earn a Dojo point. If you read 3 times in one week, you will win a prize from the treasure chest. If you read 5 times in one week, you will win a prize from the treasure chest and earn a Shine Bright Dojo for 5 points!
