Year 1

Welcome to Year 1 - Mr Trewick's Class

Our Summer Term topic is "Treasure." We will be finding out about Pirates and researching countries around the world. We will think about our own treasure in PSHCE and find out why things are important to people.

We made some tasty ice cream

We did Dance in PE with Mrs Smith from the School Sports Partnership

We found out why pirates ate fruit then made delicious fruit smoothies. We used knives to cut the fruit and we measured the ingredients carefully

We weighed classroom objects using balances and measuring scales

We made pirate ships in DT

We wrote super holiday recounts

We measured our mega structures in maths. We needed to use tape measures because they are so big!

We retold the Easter story on prayer cubes

During our class assembly, we told everyone how to be a super writer

We took part in Infant Agility at Framwellgate Moor School

We visited Tesco for a "Farm to Fork" session with Charlotte. We had a great time!

We dressed up as our favourite characters on World Book Day

We used matchsticks in our art lesson to re-create Anthony Gormley's "Crouching Man" sculpture

We practised our skills in Big Maths

Our Spring Term topic is Mega Structures and we will be finding out about sculptures and buildings from different places all around the world. We will explore the work of famous sculptors and artists including Anthony Gormley and we will find out about the world' tallest buildings including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

We wrote some prayers to decorate our Christmas tree
