Durham Castle

During our educational visit to Durham Castle the children have explored different aspects of History. They have had the opportunity to learn about the castle and what have been happening to it over time. We all have had an amazing time there and we would recommend visiting this castle to our friends and families.

Plants through Forest Schools

The children have had a wonderful time completing their Forest Schools block. Here are the fabulous experiences they have had in the forest.

They have:

*used the leaves to identify trees

*thought about deciduous and evergreen trees

*completed hunts around the forest and sensory garden to find wild plants and garden plants

*investigated the different parts of a plant using real plants and then created a giant plant using the woodland fall

*made lavender pouches

*made grass heads

*made 'eggy toasts' on fire

What an amazing opportunity to explore outdoor learning!

Our Local Area

We have been learning about our local area on Geography lessons when we have been using aerial photographs, Google maps, atlases and globes. The children have presented some excellent location skills. We have been exploring the school grounds and sharing our knowledge about the surroundings.

Harvest Festival

We celebrated Harvest Festival at St Giles' Church today. It was a great opportunity for singing, praying and decorating the church with baskets of food.

Meet the teacher afternoon

Thank you everyone for joining us! We have had an exciting afternoon and we have been decorating leaves to then put them up on our 'changing seasons' tree in our classroom. The children have been showing parents around and looked so proud of their work completed so far. smiley
