Year 3

Welcome back to Year 3!

This term, our topic is Extreme Earth! We will be learning about some spectacular natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes. Our topic will also lead us to writing a newspaper report of a real natural disaster, as well as an eyewitness account.

We hope you enjoy looking at all the amazing things we are doing until Easter!

A big welcome to our page where we will share all the superb activities we do in school. Take a look.

Everyone looked fantastic on World Book Day 📚

We went on a school trip to the Centre for Life. We built our own shelter to survive a natural disaster and explored the weird and wonderful exhibitions.  We even went ice skating!

In the Autumn term, we studied the Romans. From our trip to Arbeia Roman Fort in September to our report writing in English, we became experts in the Ancient Roman civilisation!

Merry Christmas from Year 3

The Gift of Christmas

We had a drama workshop this morning as part of Anti-Bullying week. We looked at how we show respect in school and acted out different scenarios where that might happen in school. Here's some pictures of our great acting skills!

We wore our pyjamas on Children in Need day

Well done to all of our School Council candidates. We are really proud of you all 👍

The Dogs Trust came in this afternoon and talked all about how they look after over 120 dogs in Darlington. They explained all the jobs that are needed to look after dogs and all the jobs that the Dogs Trust do. Some of us wanted to be Dog Trainers after hearing about the exciting jobs they do!

We went to the Tri-Golf festival at Maiden Castle. We chipped and putted our way to hundreds of points on 8 stations. The volunteers from Belmont Community School were amazing and helped us improve our golf skills. The next Rory McIlroy could be in our midst!

We went to Arbeia Roman Fort in Setpember to launch our topic into the Romans. We learnt all about who Centurions, Commanding Officers and soldiers were and where they lived. We also had a go at some archaeology! Some of us discovered some Roman artefacts.
