Year 5

Welcome to Year 5

We hope you have all had a lovely Christmas holiday and are feeling ready for another busy term in Year 5!

This term, our class topic is 'The Ancient Greeks' and we will be finding out all about life during this time period and exploring the impact the Greeks have had on our modern life. Lots of our other topics will link with our Greek work including creating Greek-style sculptures in art! Our English book for this term - Who Let the God Out - also links to Greek mythology and will be the focus of a lot of our writing this term.

For PE this term we are going swimming at Freeman's Quay on a Friday afternoon. Please make sure to come to school with your swimming kit every week so you are ready to take part.

Homework will be sent home every Friday and should be returned to school by the following Wednesday. Remember to access our online learning programmes at home as often as you can too. See if you can get to the top of the leader board.

As always, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

As part of our European Day of Languages celebrations, we made a Spanish 'Tres Leches Cake' - it was delicious!

We had a lot of fun solving problems, discussing riddles and hunting around school for clues on Maths Day!

We've enjoyed playing with a range of equipment on the playground at breaktime:

Electricity was our science topic during the first half term. Figuring out how to set up circuits to achieve different things was a real challenge!
